Blackpool boxer RP Davies has been reflecting on his latest victory, a win by a single point against ‘Mighty’ Mike Byles at Preston Guild Hall.

Davies is adamant that it was a conservative estimate of his superiority.

He said: “I think the scoring was a little harsh, as although it was close and competitive in all rounds, I feel as though the gap was much wider and felt I had it 5-1.”

“I was close to stopping him in the fourth but then got caught myself right at the end of the round but in all honesty I don’t recall being hit clean all that much.”

“I gave away a lot of advantages and was probably giving away close to a stone by the time we got in the ring, but I probably put in my career-best performance.”

Davies added: “The aim is to build on that, going for bigger fights at super welterweight and hunting down domestic titles.”
