Welterweight Ryan Davies has joined the ranks of Blackpool professional boxers.

Davies, who has previously campaigned in the ranks of unlicensed fighters where he attained champion status, will make his debut under British Boxing Board Of Control rules at Doncaster Dome next month.

He will take on Jason McArdle at the South Yorkshire venue on September 6.

Managed by Dennis Hobson, Davies is a relatively late starter to the professional ranks at the age of 27.

He has no amateur pedigree, but is well known on the unlicensed scene in Blackpool and beyond.

His rival McArdle, who hails from Rochdale and is also 27, has an indifferent record.

Of his nine contests, he has lost seven and won two.

Davies has been training in Sheffield and at the Sharpstyle gym in Blackpool.
