Blackpool welterweight RP Davies spoke of his dismay at losing his 100 per cent professional record.
He lost to William Warburton, of Atherton, in his fourth bout at the Magna Centre in Rotherham, losing on a stoppage in the second round.
Davies reflected: “I am absolutely broken-hearted. I will have to look at the tape to see where I went wrong but there are no excuses. I had a fantastic camp and felt at my best.
“I will have a good think about what’s next, but I would just like to say sorry to all the fantastic people who cam to support me.”
The win takes Warburton’s record to 15 wins, 74 loses and two draws, though he is better than the data suggests, widely seen at Britain’s best journeyman, as Davies now knows to his cost.
