Blackpool boxer RP Davies returns to the ring on March 11 at Preston Guild Hall.

He figures on the undercard of a bill topped by former Commonwealth Games gold medallist Scott Fitzgerald.

Indeed, Davies, who is set to face Sam Omidi, has been sparring with Fitzgerald in the run-up to the fight date.

Davies said: “Sparring has been great and I have been getting the rounds in with a good mix of talent”.

“My opponent is all but confirmed as Sam Omidi, who presents another challenge and a quite different one to some of my recent fights. He has won nearly half of his professional fights and I will not be looking past him, but I am relishing getting back in the ring and looking forward to the task ahead.”

“I am also excited to be fighting at the Guild Hall; it looks a great venue for boxing and tickets have been selling really well.”

“I will be taking a good following. It always humbles me the support I receive for my fights. I am living my dream being a professional fighter and I can’t thank people enough who pay their money to support what I do.”

Tickets are £40 and the first bell is at 7pm. A limited number of tickets remain and are available from Davies Boxing Gym, by calling 0780962863, or by emailing info@rpdboxing.com.
